The winter tire requirement has been re-regulated. Guest author Christoph Becker informs.
In the case of ice, snow, slush or frost, motor vehicles may only be driven with winter tires on all wheels. Trucks over 3.5 t and buses may also be driven in such weather conditions if at least the wheels of the permanently driven axles and, effective from July 1, 2020, the front steering axles are equipped with winter tires.
Fines
For drivers, a fine of 60 euros and 1 point will be issued. If others are handicapped or even endangered or if a traffic accident occurs, the fines increase. Also, the owner of the vehicle has to expect a fine of 75 euros and 1 point.
